This was FF Leicestershire’s brilliant idea for their 21st anniversary party. With just a few days to prepare for this event, a plan was put together by members of the FF of Leicestershire, UK, and some FFI staff. A virtual meeting room was created, invitations were sent out and on May 8 at 3pm BST, around 40 partygoers from all over the world met virtually to enjoy some tea and scones together.

FF Leicestershire introduced us to the history and etiquette of the traditional English Afternoon Tea Party and we learned everything from how to hold the teacup right to what is traditionally served: Cucumber sandwiches, ham and egg sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream and an incredible amount of small delicious cakes, all set out on Eleri’s best china in her beautiful garden in Leicestershire.

Next, we had the opportunity to chat some more in smaller groups and to get a peak at everyone’s tea table whether in Japan, Belgium, Turkey or Kenya – nothing easier thanks to today’s technology!

Many thanks to the FF of Leicestershire for making everyone’s day and thanks to all the night-owls (Australia, Japan) and early risers (USA, Canada) for joining us. It was such fun for everyone!
